Overview

The WordPerfect IFilter is a program that allows multiple search engines to index and search for keywords, properties, and content from within WordPerfect document formats. Installation of the WordPerfect IFilter allow users to search without first converting them to another file format (such as HTML).

When installed, the WordPerfect IFilter is used by the compatible search engines to index the content of the WordPerfect documents stored at specified locations and directories specific to the particular indexing server. The WordPerfect IFilter conforms to the specifications to work with Microsoft(R) Index Server as well as other IFilter compatible search engines.

Before installing the WordPerfect IFilter, you must specify the WPD, WP, and WPT file types that you want to include in the content index by using the following procedure (as documented on the Microsoft TechNet Web site):

  1. Complete one of the following steps depending on the status of your installation:
  2. On the Manage File Types page, click New File Type.
  3. On the Add File Type page, in the File extension box, type the file name extension for the file type that you want to add (for example, type WPD). Note: Do not add a period (.) character before the file type.
  4. Click OK.
  5. Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each file type (such as wp or wpt) that you want to add.
