Before installing the WordPerfect IFilter, you must specify the WPD, WP, and WPT
file types that you want to include in the content index by using the following
procedure (as documented on the Microsoft TechNet Web site):
- Complete one of the following steps depending on the status of your installation:
- If the Infrastructure Update for Microsoft Office Servers is installed:
- In Central Administration, access the Quick Launch
in the Shared Services Administration group, and click a shared service.
- On the Shared Services Administration page, in the Search
section, click Search administration.
- On the Search Administration page, on the Quick Launch,
in the Crawling section, click File types.
- If the Infrastructure Update for Microsoft Office Servers is not
installed:
- In Central Administration, access the Quick Launch
in the Shared Services Administration group, and click a shared service.
- On the Shared Services Administration page, in the Search
section, click Search settings.
- On the Configure Search Settings page, in the Crawl Settings
section, click File types.
- On the Manage File Types page, click New File Type.
- On the Add File Type page, in the File extension
box, type the file name extension for the file type that you want to add (for example,
type WPD). Note: Do not add a period (.) character before the file type.
- Click OK.
- Repeat steps 3 through 5 for each file type (such as wp or wpt) that you want to add.
- Critical: Stop any indexing services before installing or uninstalling
WordPerfect IFilter. Restart the indexing services only after the completion of
the setup.
- Make sure that your system date and time are set correctly.
- Close all open applications, including all virus-detection software, firewall applications,
and any other applications that are open in the system tray or on the Windows taskbar.
Not doing so can increase the installation time and interfere with the installation.
- Log in as an administrator, or as a user with local administrative rights.
- To avoid file and memory conflicts, close all running programs and delete the contents
of your computer's Temp folders. On Windows Vista and Windows 7,
the Temp folder location is typically C:\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp.
On Windows XP, the Temp folder location is typically C:\Documents
and Settings\<username>\Local Settings\Temp.
- If WordPerfect IFilter and WordPerfect Office X5 or earlier are required
