WordPerfect Office X3 Service Pack 1

You can apply this update to the following releases of WordPerfect Office X3 (version number 13.0.0.406 to 447):

• Standard
• Professional
• Student / Teacher Edition
• Trial versions
• OEM versions
• Home Edition

Service Pack 1 contains all patches and service pack fixes to date. To find out which version of WordPerfect Office you currently have installed, click Help > About in any Corel application, or check the volinfo.txt file at the root of Programs CD.

To install WordPerfect Office X3 Service Pack 1

1. Restart your computer.
2. Close all open applications, including any virus-scanners and DAD.
3. Download the update to your computer.
   If prompted, please be sure to choose the Save this program to disk option. Do not choose the Run this program from its current location option.
4. Double-click the installer file to begin the update.
5. Review the Software License Agreement.
6. Complete the installation by following the instructions in the installation wizard.

To install WordPerfect Office X3 Service Pack 1 to network installations

Service Pack 1 offers enhancements in the following areas:

WordPerfect

• The Metadata Removal capabilities of WordPerfect X3 now work as expected, allowing document comments to be removed.
• When inserting a database into a WordPerfect document, creating a filter on a field that contains a large amount of data will no longer affect the stability of WordPerfect.
• The handling of Table of Contents during PDF import is improved
• Documents containing graphs are properly published to HTML.
• WordPerfect successfully transitions from Corel Central Address Book to Outlook Address Book from within the Tools menu.
• WordPerfect remains stable when selecting “Cancel” in the CrossTab dialog box.
• When documents are published, hyperlinks are maintained in Tables of Authority.
• Document Map functions correctly within documents containing a Table of Authority.
• Hyperlinks to PDF documents are opened properly.
• After a keyboard merge from a macro is performed, the cursor is positioned correctly.
• In tables, the date/time option of numeric format is properly displayed.
• Images contained in cells in Microsoft Word documents are successfully imported.
• WordPerfect displays the WordPerfect MAIL Address Book when the regional settings are not set to US English.
• The Index and List tabs within the Reference Tools dialog box now handle an increased number of characters.
• Immediate launch of spelling checker after launching the Dictionary from the Tools menu functions correctly.
• The option “Change two spaces to one space between sentences” remains selected when working with the Format-As-You-Go™.
• Selecting a creation date in “File > Properties” functions correctly.
• The menu item “Edit > Convert Case > Initial Capitals'“ functions correctly when the “Do not format document using printer metrics” option is turned on.
• Copy/Paste no longer causes unexpected cell merges.
• Merging from the “IBM DB2 v8 Database” data source does not cause an error.
• WordPerfect remains stable when dragging text into a header.
• The QuickCreate toolbar button is no longer out of its proper place when working with WordPerfect on a dual-monitor system.
• The conflict is resolved between QuickCorrect™ and Spell-As-You-Go™ when “Replace words as you type” and “Correct other mis-typed words when possible” are selected in the QuickCorrect settings and Spell-As-You-Go is turned on.
• One instance of WordPerfect is launched when opening WPD files from a browser.

Quattro Pro

• Compatibility is improved between Quattro Pro and Excel spreadsheets that contain comments which are large in size.
• The function BINOMDIST now provides the correct result.
• New series can be added to charts imported from version 8, even when a new series’ range exceeds the range of the original y-axis.
• The stability of Quattro Pro is improved when numerous Report tasks are performed during file creation and editing.
• Cell contents display properly in CrossTab Reports.
• Quattro Pro successfully opens multiple files that contain startup macros.
• An issue with saving more than 19 comments has been addressed.
• When CSV documents are imported, text outlined with double quotation marks is properly interpreted as QuickColumns.
• German special characters export correctly when published to the Internet.
• German special characters export correctly when selecting the CSV format.
• The ability for Quattro Pro to open Microsoft Excel .xls files with links is improved.
• A recorded macro that includes a database query plays without error and imports the same data that was brought in by manual operation.
• Comments are saved when clicking File > Exit, without prompting the user.

Printing

• The Printer initializes and prints to WinFax.
• Measurement units reflect regional settings.
• The "Retrieve current printer" settings option is not affected by modifications to the application defaults.

Suite

• The error message "The currently selected disk is full. Please check the drive for temporary files..." is no longer received when saving a file to a disk with 4 gigabytes of free space.
• The option "Send to Mail Recipients" functions correctly when WordPerfect MAIL is the default mail client.

Messages and Updates

• Service Patch 1 for WordPerfect Office X3 unregisters WordPerfect Office X3 from the InstallShield Update Manager. Although the Update Manager remains installed for use with other applications, it will not be used to distribute future patches for WordPerfect Office X3.
• WordPerfect Office X3 with Service Pack 1 contains a new Message Center designed to provide the latest information about Corel WordPerfect Office, including information about updates to the software. The Message Center window appears only when WordPerfect is running, and only when a message is received. Updates resolve known issues with the Corel WordPerfect Office applications, providing you with the most up-to-date version of Corel WordPerfect Office. If you receive a message that an update is available, you don't have to install it; you can close the message window and keep working. If you later decide to install the update, you can visit www.corel.com/support.
• If you do not want to receive messages, you can disable the Message Center feature by choosing "Settings" when the first message is displayed. To turn off the messages and updates prior to receiving a message, please refer to this Knowledge Base article.
• If you log in as limited user and click an update to download, you must provide correct administrator credentials when you are prompted to install. Administrator accounts with no passwords are not accepted as valid credentials. To allow administrator accounts with no passwords to install updates, please follow the following procedure:
  1. Click Start > Run.
  2. Type gpedit.msc.
  3. Select Windows Settings | Security Settings | Local Policies | Security Options | Accounts | Limit local account use of blank passwords to console only.
  4. Right-click, and click Properties.
  5. Change this setting to Disable.
  6. Click OK.
• By default, network-installation command lines do NOT turn on messaging. The administrator can check for updates by visiting www.corel.com/support.
